Does this sound like you?
You have downloaded the breathing app. Possibly two of them.
You have sat through the relaxation part of a class with your heart going faster than when you walked in.
You tried a breathwork class and had weird symptoms and felt overwhelmed.
You have been told to breathe into your belly and felt like you could not get a full breath at all.
You have closed your eyes for a guided meditation and felt more exposed with your eyes closed than open.
You have lain awake at 3am counting four in and four out, getting more wound up with every round.
You have read that the vagus nerve is the answer, and tried the technique that promised to tone it.
And somewhere in all of that, you decided the problem was you. That every other woman can do this, and you are the one who cannot.
And every practitioner you have seen has told you to work on your stress.
Why nothing has worked
Your nervous system needs these steps in a particular order, and nearly every tool you have been handed starts at the end.
Noticing your breath, scanning your body, sitting with a feeling: all of that is interoception, which is your sense of what is happening inside you. Interoception is the deepest layer, and a nervous system that is running fast or shut down cannot start there. Asking a dysregulated system to turn inward is like asking a toddler mid-meltdown to describe her feelings. She is not being difficult. She just does not have access to the part of the brain that describes feelings while her nervous system is in fight or flight.
So you start with your external environment instead. Moving inward comes last, and only once your nervous system is receptive.
Some practitioners hand every person the same box breathing regardless of what her nervous system is doing that day, and when the breathing makes her worse she is told to keep going. Others say change your thoughts and ignore the body. That works for a time, and then it makes things worse, not better.
CALM is not just a technique. CALM is a framework containing techniques in the right order, so you know your nervous system is being met where it needs it.
Why I built this
I spent many years house or bed bound. I could not leave my house three to four months of the year because of pollen. I was down to a handful of foods, and fatigue, pain, anxiety, panic and insomnia were with me every day alongside the MCAS, the ME/CFS and the fibromyalgia. I was told to manage my stress, but not given a pathway to do so.
I tried to do breathing techniques but I could not do them, my air hunger was extreme. I could not be inside my body as there were too many signals coming from it and it did not feel safe.
But it all changed once I found out how to work with my body. These days I eat out. I travel. I work. I say yes to things. Pollen months come and go and I stay in my life, because the nervous system work finally made sense, and became effective.
And if I can get here, you can too.
The offer
CALM™ is a four step nervous system practice you can do in a couple of minutes, anywhere, with nothing in your hands.
CALM is taught inside BrainFood, my signature nervous system program. Now you have exclusive access to The CALM Practice Toolkit, available on its own, for only $9.
This Toolkit is for you if you have histamine intolerance, ME/CFS, MCAS, anxiety, or other long-term illness, and have tried the stress tools everyone recommends without getting the results you were promised.
CALM is a sequence that runs in a particular order, moving you through nervous system states in a gentle, guided way that keeps you safe at every step.
In the past you might have tried various tools, but no one gave you the order. No one explained why the tool you tried before did not work. Doing the right tools in the right order for your nervous system in that moment is the key.
Every tool you have tried was one of these steps on its own, lifted out of sequence. On its own, each step may be something you have met before. In sequence, the four steps are doing something different: teaching your brain, body and nervous system what safety feels like, over and over, which is how capacity gets built.
What I see in practice
What I see in the women I work with is this. When we start with the external environment instead of starting with the breath, we are able to shift the nervous system first, and then we can bring the breath in much more easily.
The Toolkit shows you how to tell when to progress through each stage, and when it is time to add in the breath or leave it for next time.
From the program CALM lives inside
The two women below are BrainFood clients. They did the whole program, not just this one practice, so what they are describing is the nervous system work as a whole. I am showing you their words because CALM is one of the practices they were doing, and because I would rather show you real ones from the program than nothing at all.
Alex
BrainFood client
"Before BrainFood, I was in my worst mental health crisis ever. I couldn't work. I'd sit staring at the wall. I had blood sugar crashes, terrible fatigue, brain fog, and crippling morning anxiety. Within months of doing the nervous system work, I was improving, not just from where the crisis started, but from health problems I'd had for decades before that."
Katie
BrainFood client
"I had diarrhoea, dizziness, passing out, perceived food intolerance, insomnia, burning mouth, constipation, weight loss, blood pressure issues, rapid heartbeat, and many other issues. Now I have virtually zero symptoms, and I am thriving. Thank you, Luanne!!! Please show that BrainFood can help people who have POTS symptoms, not just histamine issues."

Is this you?
This is for you if
Breathing exercises, meditation or body scans have made you feel worse, or made you feel nothing.
You want something you can do in two minutes, in the car or in bed, without equipment.
You have low energy or low capacity and need a practice that scales down on the hard days.
You want to understand how to work through somatic nervous system practices in a sequence.
This is not for you if
You want a food list. Start with the Low Histamine Kickstart instead.
You want the full nervous system program with the science and the whole sequence. Go straight to BrainFood.
You are looking for someone to tell you the one fix that is causing your symptoms. Chronic illness is complex, and there are multiple factors at play. The nervous system is often the key part that people miss.
Get your copy
Most women reading this page have already spent hundreds on practitioners, tests and supplements that led nowhere. Nine dollars, and the Toolkit is yours to keep.
If CALM turns out not to be for you, you have only spent the price of a coffee or a sandwich, and you will know more about your own nervous system than you did yesterday.
Questions
Because CALM does not start with the breath. The breath is the last step and the breath is optional every time. Almost everything else you have tried started where CALM finishes.
A nervous system that does not feel safe cannot start with inward attention, and that is true for everybody. For some women the first step alone can make a difference, and for other women the practice takes weeks of gentle repetition before anything changes in a way they notice. It depends on the person, and this tool is one of many I use with my clients. Often more than one approach is needed to get to full recovery, and CALM is the first step.
The Toolkit is built for low capacity days. There is a pacing guide, every step is optional, and the practice tells you plainly that stopping partway through is a complete practice. You can do just the first part of the sequence as I guide you through each checkpoint, and you can complete all of it sitting, lying or standing.
No. Your eyes stay open, you can do the practice sitting, standing or lying down, and nobody asks you to clear your mind or sit still with your feelings. The first three steps keep your attention outside yourself.
CALM is a graded somatic nervous system regulation practice, not a retraining program. Brain retraining on its own works from the brain to the body. Somatic practices work from the body to the brain, which is why I work with both with my clients and in my BrainFood program. BrainFood is where the rest of the nervous system tools are.
No. There is nothing to take, nothing to buy, nothing to put on your skin and nothing to swallow. The Toolkit is attention, position and, at the very end and only if you want it, breath.
The CALM Practice Toolkit is a self-paced digital product. Access is immediate and yours to keep. Delivered as an online guide plus downloadable audio and PDF, on any phone, tablet or computer.
